TIPS, TECHNIQUES AND PROMISES

  • When you crochet a purse and want crocheted handles, crochet around plastic tubing {like the kind used for aquariums} so the handles will not stretch out of shape when weight is added.
  • Before you start crocheting, slip beginning of yarn through a ring (jump ring, small bone ring, any small, smooth ring). It may sound crazy, but this will prevent yarn from tangling all the way to the end of your project.
  • PICNIC - Problem In Chair, Not In Computer
  • Unless it is an original pattern, let me find a free pattern for you before you buy one. I promise to either find it for you free, create one for you free, or send you a free skein of NICE yarn. That's a lot of free! And that is my promise to you!
  • When you make a swatch for gauging, make it at least 4"x4" (preferably larger) . Tag it with the info on hook size, yarn description , pattern, etc., and keep in a swatch book or box. You will be amazed at how often you will return to your collection for future projects
  • Crochet Vocabulary - PIGS are projects in grocery sacks.
  • When working with a dark color, place something white in your lap ( or vice versa) to make it easier to see what you are stitching.
